Art as Therapy Medicine Bag workshop

March 12, 6-9pm $30

I will be hosting a workshop at the Nickel Plate Arts Campus in honor of their Art as Therapy Month.
As a teaching artist I have personally used my art for healing and often advocate for Mental Health through my work. I've have made several medicine bags as pieces of art and am very excited to share this mixed media project with you. "What do you need to bring on your journey?" Please feel free to bring small items that inspire you in arts and healing, although all of the supplies will be provided in this workshop.
Art Therapy Medicine Bag workshop is reflective Project Party designed to complement Nickel Plate Art's "Art as Therapy" exhibit. In Native American cultures, medicine men or shaman of some tribes commonly use medicine bags for healing elements. On March 12, you can put a modern, Western-medicine twist on the tradition by filling an IV bag with art items of healing. You will get to create several projects with the opportunity to reflect on self and how we relate to colors and materials in our surrounding. Register at If you have any questions you can contact Kandi Jamieson the artist at 317-646-6544 or Nickel Plate Arts at 317-452-3690 or click on the link https://squareup.com/market/nickel-plate-arts/project-party-march

"Kandi is an Artist and a teacher- she will be pursuing her Master's degree in Art Therapy starting in August, she wants to make it clear that she is not an Art Therapist she is simply an Artist sharing specific art making processes in her medicine bag workshop."
